Harriet's Story...
What was going through your mind when you walked into your first Haven rehearsal?
My first Haven rehearsal was around 7 years ago and I was pretty nervous when I first started out, but after getting to know everyone it was so much fun!
How has being part of Haven changed you?
It made me more confident and it showed me I’m able to express myself in different ways.
What’s something you can do now that you couldn’t do before joining?
Probably interacting with people, before starting I struggled talking to new people but now the cast can’t get me to shut up!
What has this experience taught you about yourself?
It taught me I was always able to learn new things, from acting to dancing to singing to music to set and costumes. I was always able to learn.
What makes Haven different from other groups you’ve been part of?
Compared to previous groups I’ve been a part of, no one judges and there’s much more one on one time to get better.
What would you say to someone who thinks they’re “not confident enough” for theatre?
I would always say to push yourself anyway. You’ll never be alone on that stage and there’s always people to support and help you. You never know if you can do something unless you try, even when it’s scary.
